Getting up the Canyons Safely

Once you know the road and snow conditions for the Cottonwood Canyons, you can choose the best mode of transportation to get you up there to enjoy all that magic.

Carpool or Drive Yourself

Utah requires vehicles that travel up the Cottonwood Canyons to meet increased traction requirements. Make sure you know the requirements. If you are renting a vehicle, check for the UDOT Cottonwood Canyons sticker to make sure it has been pre-approved and is ready to go.

Reserve Your Parking

If you are driving up to the resorts, don't forget to plan ahead and make parking reservations. If it looks like they are sold out, you can check the night before to see if any spots have opened up. Or, opt out of the parking question with the UTA ski bus or the Cottonwood Connect Ski Shuttle.

Ride the Ski Bus

Public transportation is a good option to get to the ski resorts on the dedicated ski bus. Park at one of the Park and Ride lots near the base of the canyon and let UTA do the driving for you.
